Hibiscus Original Painting 5x7

The hibiscus is everywhere in the Caribbean. Jamaica claimed it as a national flower. It shows up on coats of arms, in yards, in hair, in folk medicine. It has been part of Caribbean life so long it feels like it was always there.

This painting started with that history and ended with that color. The orange pushing into pink at the center, the way the petals open like they have nothing to hide. Hibiscus doesn't do subtle and neither does this piece.
